What's included: Two full days of touring, private car, native English-speaking guide, bicycle, helmet, lunches, snacks, bottled water, entrance fee for crafts village, basic insurance and drop off at your Kawaguchiko-area hotel at the end of each day (or at Kawaguchiko Station on the last day of the tour).

What's not included: Train and/or bus transportation to and from the start and end points of the tour, hotel stays, breakfasts and dinners. We will provide links to train and bus schedules and booking information for travel to and from the start and end points of the tour, and you will book and pay for your train and/or bus trips. On request, we will also provide a list of convenient hotels you can choose from, and you will book and pay for your hotel stays for the tour dates.


Description: This tour takes you to the most scenic spots in the Mt Fuji and Fuji Five Lakes regions. On the first day of the tour, experience the thrill of biking down Fuji's slopes, stopping along the way at high-elevation vista points with panoramic views. Pedal around two of the lakes in the mountain's foothills with breathtaking countryside landscapes. Then visit a historic shrine and lush flower gardens that foreground Fuji.

Spend the second day of the tour cycling around the smaller and more remote three of the Fuji Five Lakes. Explore a well-preserved ancient village where artisans display elaborate hand-made crafts in traditional Japanese thatched-roof houses. Travel off the beaten path on lovely country roads relatively few tourists see. Then coast down long, gentle hills through Fuji's western highlands, past evergreen forests and picturesque farms, to a magnficent waterfall.

Itinerary:
Day 1
  • Meet our guides at Kawaguchiko Station
  • Our support car takes you up the Subaru Line Road to the 5th Station on Mt Fuji's slopes (typically 50 minutes)
  • Explore the 5th Station on foot (typically 30 minutes)
    • Enjoy views of Fuji's peak and the landscapes below
    • Visit a picturesque shrine dedicated to Mt Fuji
  • Bike down the Subaru Line Road, stopping at vista points along the way (typically 1 hour)
  • Ride to Lake Yamanaka in our support car (30 minutes)
  • Cycle around Lake Yamanaka, stopping at sightseeing spots along the way (typically 1 hour)
    • Bike past plum and cherry trees on the waterfront, enjoying flower viewing in spring
    • Stop at a beach with an excellent view of Mt Fuji
    • Cycle past maple trees, viewing colorful leaves in fall
    • Ride on dedicated bike paths and boardwalks from which swans can be seen floating on the lake
    • Complete the bike ride around Lake Yamanaka
  • Cycle to a flower park and view fields of seasonal blooms foregrounding Mt Fuji (typically 30 minutes)
  • Cycle to and sightsee on foot at a shrine dedicated to Mt Fuji (typically 40 minutes)
  • Lunch (typically 40 minutes)
  • Cycle to Lake Kawaguchiko (typically 20 minutes)
  • Cycle around Lake Kawaguchiko, stopping at sightseeing spots along the way (typically 1 hour and 45 minutes)
    • Cycle over a bridge that spans the lake and offers panoramic views
    • Stop at a lookout point on the lakeshore
    • Bike beside rows of cherry trees on the waterfront, enjoying cherry blossom viewing in spring
    • Cycle through the "Maple Corridor," viewing colorful leaves in fall
    • Bike to the quiet, scenic country roads on the less-developed side of the lake
    • Walk through a lakeside flower park with outstanding views
    • Visit the oldest shrine in Japan dedicated to Mt Fuji
    • See the "floating shrine" on the lake
    • Complete the bike ride around Lake Kawaguchiko
  • Day concludes with drop off at your Kawaguchiko-area hotel
Day 2
  • Pick up at your Kawaguchiko-area hotel or Kawaguchiko Station
  • Our support car takes you to Lake Saiko (typically 30 minutes)
  • Cycle around Lake Saiko (typically 30 minutes)
    • Bike past plum and cherry trees on the waterfront, enjoying flower viewing in spring
    • Stop at a beach with an excellent view of Mt Fuji
    • Cycle past maple trees, viewing colorful leaves in fall
    • Complete the bike ride around Lake Saiko
  • Explore the traditional artisans' village and its thatched-roof houses on foot (typically 75 minutes)
  • Bike to Lake Shojiko (typically 20 minutes)
  • Cycle around Lake Shojiko, stopping at lakefront view points along the way (typically 45 minutes)
    • Bike past plum and cherry trees on the waterfront, enjoying flower viewing in spring
    • Stop at a beach with an excellent view of Mt Fuji
    • Cycle past maple trees, viewing colorful leaves in fall
    • Complete the bike ride around Lake Shojiko
  • Lunch (typically 40 minutes)
  • Bike to Lake Motosuko (typically 10 minutes)
  • Cycle around Lake Motosuko, stopping at lakefront view points along the way (typically 1 hour)
  • Bike downhill through the Asagiri Highlands, stopping to view farms foregrounding Mt Fuji (typically 1 hour)
  • Visit Shiraito Falls (typically 45 minutes)
  • Ride to Kawaguchiko in our support car (50 minutes)
  • Tour concludes at Kawaguchiko Station or your Kawaguchiko-area hotel
Important note:
The itinerary above is composed of the attractions we typically visit during this tour if our pace enables us to visit them during the time allotted for the tour.

When biking, hiking or walking, our pace is close to that of the slowest member of your group. When driving, our pace is affected by traffic, road conditions and weather. Our pace is also impacted by the frequency and duration of stops for food, drink, photos, rest, etc.

Since our pace is determined by the above factors that are unpredictable and beyond our control, we do not guarantee we will visit all the attractions in the itinerary during your tour.

Our guides may skip, substitute or change the order of attractions in the itinerary to adapt to weather, road conditions, traffic, our pace or other circumstances.

We will not increase the duration of your tour or reimburse part or all of the tour price if we are unable to visit all the attractions in the itinerary during your tour or if our guides skip or substitute attractions.
